Offer Policy
Job Offer Calendar 2022-23
The Meruelo Family Center for Career Development (CCD) has established the following expectations to provide a successful experience for both students and employers participating in on-campus recruiting.
Expectations for Students
Students are expected to:
- attend scheduled interviews;
- provide professional advance notice of interview schedule changes;
- withdraw from any recruiting process they do not intend to fully pursue for an offer; and,
- honor their commitments to accepting employment offers which abide by the timelines listed below.
The Meruelo Family Center for Career Development requires students who are engaged in a career or job search to conduct themselves in an ethical manner reflecting the policies and expectations put forth by the University of Notre Dame in its student handbook, duLac: A Guide to Student Life. This issue is taken seriously. Students who renege on an offer of employment (full-time job offer or internship) will be held accountable by the University and will be required to meet with a Student Affairs senior administrator to discuss the circumstances of why the offer was reneged. An appropriate resolution to the situation will then be developed which could include removal of access from Handshake as well as a notation in the student's educational record. The dean of the student's academic college may also be made aware of any reneged offer of employment.
Expectations for Employers
We ask employers participating in on-campus recruiting to please respect and adhere to the following:
- Off-campus Interview Scheduling - provide students with a minimum three business days notice for an off-campus interview. This time is critical for students to arrange travel and rearrange academic and/or other leadership commitments.
- Uphold Job Offers - rescinding an offer means the student must restart their search and it damages the credibility of your organization with the student body. If there is a special circumstance where you think an offer must be withdrawn, please contact your assigned Employer Engagement Manager in the CCD.
- Offer Timeline - provide fair and reasonable time for students to respond to an offer. This decision impacts both their future professional and personal life.
Employers will be held accountable for any violations of these expectations.
Timelines for 2023 Offers
The University of Notre Dame aligns our expectations for timelines of offers with guidance from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, which states: “offer deadlines will be influenced by the available candidate pool, the available recruitment opportunities, and anticipated staffing needs. Definitions of sufficient time for these offer deadlines will vary, given industry standards, students’ experience with the employer, offer timing, students’ career interests, and proximity to graduation date/start time.”
The dates listed below are intended to balance the needs of students to make informed decisions on career plans, while also providing employers sufficient time to recruit students.

2024 OFFERS
Offers for full-time or internship opportunities beginning in 2024 that are extended prior to May 1, 2023, we expect that students should have at least through the end of their summer 2023 experience to decide about opportunities beginning 2024. Your partnership and cooperation helps ensure that students can accept an offer in full confidence and commit to your organization with less likelihood of reneging on your offer.
